Discover the Flavor of a Perfectly Grown Nut

Connected to Golden Rule Vineyards, Cochise Groves Pistachios are your resource for excellent nuts grown in the high desert of Cochise County in Southeastern Arizona.

Our climate and growing conditions are similar to those found in Iran, which is the traditional home of the pistachio and the world’s largest producer of this popular treat.

Sitting at 4,350 feet, our orchards experience the winter chill that allows our crop to begin growing and then the hot, sunny summer days and cool summer nights that create a truly gourmet-quality nut.

Enjoy the Fruits of a Long-Held Family Enterprise

Cochise Groves was founded in 1981 as Nilsen Orchard 1 by Victor and Hazel Nilsen, who planted the hybrid tree stock. Victor’s brother, Henry Nilsen, lived in Dragoon and managed the orchard until his retirement in 1997.

In the years after 1973, the Nilsen family purchased two additional orchards, and Cochise Groves became the largest family owned pistachio operation in the state.

The orchard is now operated by Jim and Ruth Graham. Ruth is one of the Nilsen daughters, while Jim brings farming skills from his native, Iowa, where he raised corn and soybeans for 25 years.
